All you need to know as Wolves, Burnley, West Ham, Forest, Spurs and Leeds fight for safety The fight to stay in the Premier League is intensifying as the 2025/26 season enters its decisive phase. At the end of the season, the bottom three clubs will be relegated to the EFL Championship - the second tier of the English football pyramid - and replaced by three teams from that division. Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley sit firmly in the relegation zone, 13 and 10 points from safety respectively, although Wolves have been in good form going into the international break, with a draw against leaders Arsenal and Brentford and wins over both Aston Villa and Liverpool giving them eight points from their last five matches.West Ham United had picked up momentum with a run of one defeat in six matches heading into Sunday’s encounter at Villa, but their 2-0 defeat keeps the Hammers third-bottom, one place and one point behind Tottenham Hotspur in 17th spot. Spurs were thumped 3-0 by fellow relegation rivals Nottingham Forest in Sunday’s huge "six-pointer" at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and are in danger of being relegated from the Premier League for the first time. They have since mage a managerial change after that loss, replacing Igor Tudor with former Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Roberto De Zerbi. Forest’s win, courtesy of goals from Igor Jesus, Morgan Gibbs-White and Taiwo Awoniyi, handed Vitor Pereira his first Premier League victory as head coach. More importantly, the three points enabled Forest to leapfrog Spurs into 16th spot, three clear of the bottom three. Leeds United sit in 15th spot, one point and one place ahead of Forest and four away of the relegation places. Which teams are in the best form? Surprisingly it is bottom club Wolves who are in the best form of the teams filling the sixth lowest places in the table. Rob Edwards’ side have won two of their last three matches, while Forest have secured one win and two draws across the same period. Spurs remain the only Premier League club yet to win in 2026.What are the remaining fixtures? There are several "six-pointers" to come, including huge head-to-heads on Saturday 18 April when four of the current bottom six sides face each other. Wolves’ hopes of a sensational fightback are boosted by a look at their fixtures. Based on the current standings, four of their remaining seven games are against teams placed 15th or below.
